Renowned local artists Tina Rawson and Rebecca Klementovich have embarked on a captivating project: capturing the essence of the Pink House, a beloved landmark in our community, on canvas. The house is nestled amidst the sea marshes of Newbury, in solitude like a Whistler’s house painting. The house boasts of a rich history dating back to at least 1925 and has witnessed the passage of countless lives and stories within its walls.
Rebecca Klementovich is known for her evocative brushstrokes and ability to imbue her art with a sense of abstraction . Pink is a signature color.
Tina Rawson has explored themes of Swedish folk art through her heritage. Tina aims to not only portray the house’s architectural beauty but its aliveness. Both have made painting this amazing pink House an important subject matter to be painted.
The Pink House was thought that it had been built for a jilted wife out of spite, however this is untrue.
In 1925 the Pink House was bought by Gertrude W. Cutter from the widow Abbie K. Little. Fast forward, in 2011 it was purchased by the U.S.
Fish & Wildlife/Parker River National Wildlife Refuge with the surrounding acreage. Now they want to tear it down. We don't want that to happen.
It's hard to explain to people who aren't visually inclined how stunning this spot is, but as it's won the most Instagramable spot on the North Shore.
