Famous Tea House
Famous Tea House
36x24 Acrylic
This black tea house with white framed widows is located down the garden from the main house. In front of the tea house is a small garden enveloped in a stone fence. Inside is a large room for serving tea, a view of the Salmon river and a small half opened room on the second floor. This second floor room was built for the musicians. The musicians would play as the sisters had a tea party. A whole house built for tea parties, my kind of people!.
The Hamilton House is set on 50 acres the border in South Berwick. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame building, with a hip roof, clapboard siding, four brick chimneys symmetrically placed in its outside walls, and gabled dormers on all four elevations. What is fascinating about this property is the tea house which was built by the wealthy sisters who inherited the property.
