This series is painted for women who sailed on tail ships in the 17 and 18th century. I have been enamored with their bravery and unending knowledge and courage. This series is dedicated to them. The most heroic story is the one of the wife of a captain, who would strap herself and her child to the bottom of the ships masts, so they would not blow over into the sea.
Generally only captains were allowed to bring family members in voyages. This was a tangible reminder of the privileges that a sea captain had over the crew.
